Understanding and managing soil quality is critical for a successful harvest. A simple soil analysis can increase your crop plant yields and your profits, lower your costs, save you money, and improve the quality of your fruits and vegetables.

Soil Analysis or Soil Testing is a tool to diagnose the fertility status of the soil. It determines the amount of essential nutrients in the soil, and if deficient, allows for the recommendation of the correct kind of fertilizer or other soil ameliorant and the correct amount and timing of application.

We take the analysis a step further and determine the biology or microbes existent in your soil and add any that we think will maximize your productivity.

Our experienced technical and scientific teams at the laboratory/ factory in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, include molecular microbiologists, environmental scientists, arborists and agronomists who will analyze, evaluate and chemically measure the exact composition of your soil for its ”PLANT AVAILABLE CONTENT”.

A SOIL ANALYSIS will chemically measure the elements in the soil for its “Plant Available Content.”

The Danforth Plant Science Center uses large-scale X-ray computed tomography imaging for non-invasive root measurements which records unseen processes without disturbing plant development. It is the first system in the U.S. Now we can actually see fungi infecting the cells of maize (corn) that access carbon from the plant and trade that for nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) and other nutrients.

Micro and macro elements like nitrogen (are typically bound 95% to 99%). When nitrogen is bound or in an un-reactive form rather than a reactive form the plants can utilize, the nutrients are of little value and that is why synthetic chemicals have been added to substitute for the un-reactive nutrients in the soil.

SOIL ORGANIC MATTER is the fraction of the soil that consists of plant or animal tissue in various stages of breakdown or DECOMPOSITION.

SOIL ORGANIC MATTER has a strong influence on water holding capacity.

A 1% increase in Soil Organic Matter and water-holding capacity goes up 10%!

SOIL ORGANIC MATTER increases soil CEC and the ability to resist changes in pH.

And In a recent study in a SUMAGROW inoculated broccoli field, the Soil Organic Matter increased 67.5% Therefore, this broccoli crop realized a 675% increase in water holding capacity!

CEC Is the soil’s cation exchange capacity. The higher the CEC, the higher the negative charge and the more cations that can be held.

Higher ORGANIC MATTER content soil will have higher CEC.

Simply put, the higher the CEC the greater nutrient holding capacity of a given soil.
